 INSECURITY : PDP A DISAPPOINTMENT ON THE PLATEAU.

It is no longer news, that the PDP led government has failed  woefully, in protecting lives and property of the very people that voted it into office.

Not only that, peace, commerce and particularly agricultural activities in the agrarian areas, are now best imagined than real.

Although the security challenges predate the present administration,the situation deteriorated rapidly and almost became  uncontrollable, under the now PDP government.

 Painfully, almost on a monthly basis, mass graves are dug; new IDP camps established;  people maimed and children stopped from going to School, as a result of the rampaging activities of terrorists in the State.

It is therefore not surprising that the Transparency International came out with a damning report a fortnight ago, that over 1330 persons were murdered by terrorists between December 2023 and February 2024.

According to the TI , the victims who were mostly from Mangu, Bokkos, Barakinladi local government areas, and of late Wase, have 13,093 children and 16,461 women presently in the IDP camps

Sadly, the number of losses in three months under the present administration, is more than what happened during the eight years, of the Lalong government.

That is not all, a group, which calls itself a coalition of ethnic nationalities, stated that bandits are presently occupying 151 hamlets, villages and communities in Plateau State.

At a press conference in Jos a few days ago, the group expressed disappointment with the level of what it described as the level of government response to the plight of the victims of illegal occupation and land grabbing.

Ironically, the PDP during the electioneering campaigns, promised to defend and secure the State,by using different approaches,such as the Operation Rainbow framework, community vigilantism and empowering local communities, deploying cutting edge technology,and combatting marauders. However, the PDP after taking over the mantle of leadership, probably for lack of will power, failed to actualise it's promise,except the employment of 600  in the State's security outfit, as claimed by governor Mutfwang in his State wide Radio and Television broadcast to celebrate his one year in office.

Without politicising  the issue, from all indications,the government had not been forthcoming, decisive, as well as methodological in handling the security lapses and breaches in the State.

The PDP needs to re-strategize and overhaul the security architecture with a view to giving the people a sense of protection and peace in the State.

 PDP GOVERNMENT'S 365  DAYS OF HOPELESSNESS.

Today, marks exactly one year in office, of the PDP led administration under the leadership of Governor Caleb Mutfwang.

This  morning, in a fourteen minute Radio and Television broadcast to commemorate the day, the governor repeated virtually all what the MDA's flaunted as the government's so called achievements without any expenditure profile during their respective media briefings a fortnight ago.

As a matter of fact the hallmarks or take-aways of the governor's speech were wishful thinking and prayers.

This at all, did not disappoint majority of the people, since many had anticipated the outcomes, based on the government's confused policies and programmes.

For the rational minds that did not vote the PDP in the 2023 governorship election, it is a vindication of their well considered sense of judgements for holding the premonition of the Party's lack of articulate policy and programmes to steer the ship of affairs of the State.

And true to type, the PDP has clearly demonstrated to the worrying citizens of the State, that is incapable of providing what it had promised them during the electioneering campaigns, hence the unproductive and dismal performance in the last one year.

Regrettably, even the hope and aspirations of the worshipful supporters of the PDP look dashed, with the long faces they wear and the withdrawal syndrome that has befallen them.

Obviously, the PDP led government seems to be wise by half, in  capitalising on religiosity and also associating with the proponents of the Karl Marx maxim, which states that 'Religion is the opium of the people'.

The planned prayer sessions by the two major religions are deliberately aimed at shoving support for the government, which from all indications are dead on arrival.

As a matter of fact, the people are now wiser, and so no amount of shenanigans or religious manipulation would change the narrative that the PDP government has under performed, and as such, owes the citizens of the State explanation, on the unprecedented humongous FAAC allocations and the bizarre borrowings during the period under review.

It is shameful and unheard of, that a government which held sway for year, could not show any reasonable thing, except rhetorics and hysteresis.

While other States of the federation are busy commissioning or flagging projects, ours are the erection of bill boards and sponsored radio as well as Television jingles, heralding the one year in office of the PDP led administration .

Be that as it may,now that the governor has spoken and also provoked conversation, it would be a total disservice if critical analysis as well as interrogation of the PDP led government performance is not carried out by well meaning citizens and the opposition parties in subsequent days.

 PDP GOVERNMENT : ITS LATE, THE TIME IS NOT NOW.

Over the weekend, the Plateau State Government through the Secretary to the Government, Architect Samuel Jatau tearfully and sorrowfully too, said the Mutfwang administration is in dire financial stress as a result of heavy debt burden.

The SGS, revealed on a National Television, that the PDP government monthly, doles out ₦250 million to service debt inherited from the  administrations.

The question is, why the outcry at this particular time,? Could it be that the government is overwhelmed or is stocked and bereft of ideas on the way forward?

Whatever the wailing means, it could be strategic, and also a smokescreen aimed at winning the people's sympathy as well as serve as an excuse for the government's non-performance in the past 365 days.

Suffice it to say that, the issue of debt servicing should not be an excuse, because the PDP was not unaware of the debt profile of the State, when it claimed during the campaigns, that it possessed the magic wand of making the Plateau, better than it met it.

Although this intervention reluctantly put across, should not have come now in the first place in view of the much anticipated Governor Mutfwang's speech of the first year in office, comes up in a matter of days.

Therefore, this thesis is just a response to the  SGS's inchoate explanation of the debt profile of the State, which with  all seriousness, should not go unchallenged.

To put things in proper perspective,  it is imperative to start from where the PDP government took off, in terms of financial disposition, what it met on the ground, and the  governor's official trajectory vis-a-vis his campaign manifesto, tagged " The time is now."

As a starter, the governor when taking off, after receiving the Professor Ganyir Lombin Committee report in June 2023, stated that he inherited a liability of three hundred and seven billion naira from the Lalong administration, which from documentary evidence was not true.

The Debt Management Office, the statutory body with authentic information on the indebtedness of all states of the federation, officially revealed that as of December 2023, Plateau State was indebted to the tune of ₦157,615,986,155.32 only. This disclosure debunked the PDP government's assertion.

The Debt Management Office then went further to reveal that the PDP government within a span of three months, June to December last year, increased the debt profile of the State to ₦174.93 billion, an increase of 16.31 billion naira.

This clearly shows that, rather than managing the debt and looking inward as enunciated in its campaign manifesto, the government embarked on a borrowing spree with disproportionate outcomes.

Aside from the borrowings, the government is reported to have generated an Internal Revenue of ₦10,841,250,482.37 not to mention other interventions.

More important, is FAAC allocation which stands ₦97,531,140,757.25 as against ₦34,133,327,206.78, the Lalong administration collected in a year.

It therefore follows that the Mutfwang's government enjoyed an increase of ₦63,397,813,551.07  over that of its predecessor. This marked difference is without special intervention funds, loans, and grants as sourced from http://www.nigeriastat.gov.ng.

Given the foregoing, it is absurd and unacceptable for the PDP to begin to cry wolf when it has added more to the debt profile of the State without any corresponding impact on the lives of the people of Plateau State.

LACK OF POLITICAL IDEOLOGY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE POLITICS OF ETHNICITY, RELIGION AND POOR PERFORMANCE IN NIGERIA :

In marking activities to celebrate June 12,2023 which is Democracy Day in Nigeria,i was lucky and privileged to be granted an interview with one of the best television stations in Africa,ECWA TV where i frown at the lack of political ideology in our political parties and the system at large which has left the electorates uninformed about how best to demand for good governance from political office holders and to vote competent people into office.

Today, the lack of political ideology in our political parties in Nigeria are partly some of the reasons for the wrong choices we make as electorates,that is why some negative issues which have become parameters for getting into office rather than what politicians can offer to the people has become like the norm,ethnicity,religious sentiments and all manner of negative thoughts has creep in to replace political ideology,that is why decamping and cross carpeting is done everyday without direction or remorse.

No wonder,the call to reintroduce political ideology in our political parties and the polity is falling on deaf ears as the interest is more about how to get into power rather than service.

Ethnicity and religion has now substituted sound political ideologies that is why the electorates cannot really hold public office holders accountable for not performing up to expectation base on their manifesto and the ideology they are known for .

Lucky for us from 1999 till date this is the first time we are having a true progressive as the President of Nigeria in the person of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR who believes in competence and hard work,during the build up to the elections he was focus on what he can offer rather than relaying on the petty issues of ethnicity and religion that has kept us stagnant in Nigeria.

His choice of the Vice President HE. Sen.Kashim Shettima GCON for example a very competent and progressive hand shows that they have come on board to bring about development to the door step of the common man despite some calls across the country to polarize us into ethnic and religious divide during the build up to elections.

Nigeria now is witnessing a different kind of leadership style, so far the hopes of many have been rekindle with the very promising steps been taken,a sign to Nigerians that it is time to throw way religion and ethnicity that has now overtaken the place of political ideology in our political parties and the polity.

In Plateau State for example the politics of religion and ethnicity was introduced to confuse the electorates during the elections,but the candidate of the All Progressive Congress Dr.Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe stood firm reemphasizing on the issue of his track record and what he can offer and how to improve the lot of the people just as we had President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR doing at the National level .

We should begin to talk about what does a progressive,conservative and other local ideologies have to offer in bringing about change and true development that will touch the lives of the common man in the street,we must see ourselves as Nigerians first and the talk about who will unite us and bring about development  not the other way round.

Plateau State the home of peace and tourism has been experiencing several challenges but in the face of everything the State is lucky to have  a rallying factor who is no other than Dr.Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe who is seen as a leader for all,this is true because he did not waste time or remain mute but added his voice to bringing about calmness in the State .

On his Facebook handle yesterday 19/6/2023  his words came hitting on the nail with the caption "Peace be Still" where he appeal for peace and calm in all our communities especially Mangu LGA at this point .

The social media and the State felt the impact of his message of peace as his message was trending on all spaces.

His appeal for leaders and citizens to cooperate  with government and security agencies so as to have peace and his reminder to the people of Plateau State to note that violence has never been a veritable tool for resolving disputes which leaves us worse than we are is a testimony of the fact that Dr.Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe is a servant leader who has the State and the Nation at large at heart,Plateau State at this time more than ever needs peace and tranquility and leaders like Dr.Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe who to him the the good and development of the State comes first.

On the Plateau here the APC will experience same landslide victory as all the Senatorial Candidates and House of Representative Candidates are men of good value that has added value in no small measure in various capacities,for example Governor Simon Bako Lalong who is contesting for the Southern Zone Senatorial Seat on inception of his administration did not sleep over but continued with the projects of his predecessors,being creative as always established the Plateau Peace Building Agency(PPBA) when Plateau was having series of challenges which has become a reference point for all in the Country he did not do that alone he established various agencies that are adding value to the people such as Plateau State Contributory Health Care Management Agency(PLASCHEMA),Plateau State Microfinance Development Agency (PLASMEDA),Plateau State Information and Communication Development Agency (PICTDA) ,Plateau State Infrastructure Promotion & Regulatory Agency (PSIPRA) and a host of others  that has direct bearing touching lives everyday,Governor Lalong again made people oriented policies which  is aimed at improving lives and the improving revenue profile of the State making the State peaceful and open to all.

He has constructed roads across the length and breath of the State one spectacular road is the Angwan Dadi Kalong bridge which is the longest bridge in Plateau State,the British America fly over bridge,the newly constructed High Court complex and so many projects ,the Lalong Legacy Project is one that cannot be forgetting.

Indeed Governor Simon Bako  Lalong is one candidate that Plateau really needs so as to attract another level of development into the State , again here we are with a Hon Yusuf Gagdi a bulldozer representing very well in the green chambers,Hon Idris Wase the Deputy Speaker doing so great that voting him back should not be toyed with ,Amb.Chris Giwa doing great even without any appointment ,Amb Gideon  Dandereng a performing Chairman any day any time ,Hon Ibrahim Baba Hassan (Babs) a performer who did very well touching lives even beyond his constituency which is Jos North -North ,or are we talking about Chief John Da'afan   who has great experience in the government,private and the public sector who has attracted development to his people and has always love to touch lives ,infact all the Candidates of the APC on the Plateau are those who worth their Salt we can confidently say that the APC on the Plateau have array of wonderful candidates to represent us both at the Red and Green chambers.

There are many examples around the world and Nigeria where exceptional leaders have demonstrated capacity and good leadership bringing  results,like the Former Prime Minister of Singapore Lee Kuan Yew who brought a lot of transformation to his country who is widely talked about around the World,now as we take a  closer look at who we want as the Governor of Plateau State,let us be mindful of having an exceptional leader on board,it is via this we can be sure of having good governance.

What is the mind set of the personality who you want to lead you as Governor?

These are the many questions we need to ask each other before voting anyone into office.

First,do always kindly remember that you are going to entrust such a personality with enormous resources and power with which will be at his disposal for our common good,so that brings up the need to carefully select who you want to become the Governor, bringing satisfaction to the generality of the populace,which requires a careful reflection.

*That having the best hands is having a Dr.Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe who will go straight to the business of governance as soon as being inaugurated into office and not being carried away by the paraphernalia of the office for a year without work because of his exposure.

*Having the best hands means governance in action with having the best intentions for the people and executing them accordingly.

That is why the people must look carefully and understand that having good governance starts from the kind of person you select,his attitude to governance,his passion for the State and its people and many other factors.

Here we are with a leader ready to bring value to Plateau State,should we turn our face another way and not tell the people this good news of hope? Far from it that we remain mute.

The formidable youth group which is the COALITION for PLATEAU NORTHERN YOUTHS for DR.NENTAWE YILWATDA hosted and interacted freely with Dr.Nentaw

e Yilwatda Goshwe who took time memory lane carefully to explain a lot about our dear State,the Country ,his life  and the need for unity and also how to improve on our economy  and much more.

Dr.Nentawe   Goshowe said clearly how he will engaged the youths on his popular "3Es " which are Empowerment,Education and Enhancing the Youths and talked extensively on how to run a government devoid of tribalism, stating how we have become victims of ourselves when we hold on to tribalism rather than competence and hard work,in his words we are too small to bring up tribalism as a State and then achieve much if we want to achieve a lot as a State, as running an  inclusive government has proven to bring results as he has seen in his working experience all over also in other climes.

He also talked about leveraging on key critical economic infrastructure ,looking at the angle of industrialization and opening the space for more economic activities in the State.

Dr.Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe talked about human capital development,which is targeted at bringing many out of poverty,where the most vulnerable in the society are the youths,women and children ,he explain how his road map and blue print is targeted at creating enabling environment for all to thrive and creating wealth.

Dr.Nenatwe Yilwatda Goshwe went ahead to talk of how he will achieve a lot because ideas rule the world key among is bringing up revolution in the agricultural sector where he explain how the potatoes Tissue Culture Center will shape our agricultural sector there by Producing potatoes with about  60 tones per hector, and further more be able to farm 3 times in a year which is 4 months each and still get good yield as a State,he explained how empowering farmers is key by setting up strong cooperatives and educating and exposing the farmers towards understanding how to engage using  modernize agricultural methods . 

When asked about how to tackle insecurity he talked about the sensibility of the nature of security issues and because of his patriotism he explained partly how they have  mapped out road plans on how to use technology and many other steps to combat insecurity in our state with a viable model that will be of immense help to the country at large.

He further stated that no one is a winner in a crisis zone therefore security will be his a top priority and the business of all.

He stated lastly that he will never discuss

 propaganda but concentrate on issue base campaigns.

On his part the patron of the group Mr.Henry Wanzam Gotom stated that his joy knows no bound hosting  Dr.Nentawe Yilwatda and hearing him interact and answer questions with youths, which shows a lot on the person of  Dr.Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe his humility,brilliance and zeal for Plateau makes him fit for the number one seat in the State.

The Chairman of the group Hon.Dung Felix on his own part stated how the group was formed long before Dr.Nentawe Yilwada emerged as the flag bearer with youths from all over the country who are domicile and staying fully in Plateau North who have impact at the grassroot.

Top among the Youths present are the Leader Jos South Legislative  Arm,Councilors and Supervisory Councilors and the Secretary of Jos South LGA and other LGAs.

The DOOR-2- DOOR Movement GENERATION NEXT, had its inaugural State Executive Council Meeting on 18th June 2022 and resolved to engage the voters in a constructive manner to engender the successful delivery of its candidate, Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe at the 2023 polls.

In his keynote address the State Chairman, Comrade Yerima expressed his joy with the caliber of  persons onboard and the zeal and enthusiasm displayed. He encouraged the team to reach out to  the entire State and to also talk and promote the good ideas of Dr Nentawe Yilwada Goshwe who is a very careful and pragmatic leader and who has the State at heart. He further stated that the Candidate is a leader who is ready to work and take the State to enviable heights.

 Indeed nobody can doubt that Dr.Nentawe Yilwada Goshwe is top notch and a leader who has the capacity to bring about the desired transformation by making the Plateau a sustainable and pride of everyone. The State Chairman of the Door2Door Movement further charged the LGA Coordinators to ensure that the ideals and desires of the Movement reach all households within their areas of jurisdiction.

"OUR INTERNAL DIFFERENCES SHOULD BRING ABOUT UNDERSTANDING" Mr.Luka Wukwa warns against hateful campaigns against aspirants and each other in the Party.

An advocate for good governance and a vibrant Plateau Youth Mr Luka Wukwa in a press statement available to Plateau Voice today March,11,2022, advice against use of hateful campaign as we support candidates especially in the All Progressive Congress (APC) which he belongs to,bellow is his statement.

We should beware of how we play hate on ourselves as we support various aspirants on the same party platform, our internal differences should bring about understanding and unity of purpose rather than a divided platform. I hear and see some of our friends or family members of same APC make disparaging comment about the aspirants they all support differently, we cannot continue to spiral up into counter-insults about the Aspirants thereby devaluing the Party we are meant to protect, thus further poisoning the strength of our relationship as a Platform. 

My opinion for having a healthy conversation without fighting ourselves outside the house. 

Ask if anyone who opposes your choice of aspirant-candidate would like to discuss your differences just so we are able to avoid emotional bitter words.  

Ironically we are more likely to use specific, emotional language when talking about what we don’t like than what we do.

We should take note that our collective interest is to win for the party APC, for the overall interest of our state Plateau and Nigeria at large. 

We can do better to avoid all that is heating up political conversations to the point of allowing behavioral contagion to the third degree. From how much we eat to whom we hate.

EXCITEMENT OVER THE BRITISH-AMERICA INTERCHANGE (FLY OVER)  CONSTRUCTION IN JOS : 

Excitement in Jos and around Plateau State as work begins at the popular British-America junction and road in Jos,the British-America junction a road within the Jos metropolis known for having a notorious gridlock in the early hours of the morning and in the evening and when motorist  and commuters are going back to their various destination after a hard  days job,has been temporarily close for construction by the contractors till further notice.

Part of his promises to better the lives of citizens the Governor Simon Bako Lalong administration has not left any stone on turn to do meaningful projects and give the people of Plateau State the best,it is therefore in these light that the Governor Simon Bako Lalong's administration has gone ahead to construct a fly over bridge in other to make life easer and for the road to have a free flow of traffic,those who know that road well can attest to the fact that there has been accidents that have claim promising lives of Nigerians,and a notorious gridlock that has been difficult to reduce.

In a press statement available to Plateau Voice the Comissioner of  works Hon.Pam Botmang has appeal to citizens to cooperate with the situation and bear the inconvenience that will occur as a result of the diversions due to work commencing.

Bot-Mang said "we are excited that the contractors are moving to site to commence work.

This is significant for the government and the people of the State who have long yearned for a relief to the traffic gridlock in British-American Junction." 

Again he has advise motorist  to use alternative routes earlier listed out and again urging the people to be patient as such pains will eventually give birth to joy of the new infrastructure.

Plateau Voice has gathered that their is a feeling of excitement around the city and State for this well thought out project by the Lalong Administration,with these there will be a free flow of traffic when the interchange fly over is completed.

This is quite commendable as Governor Simon Bako Lalong has demonstrated that his heart is with the people.
